Building Connection From The Ground Up
It started with a phone call, a client describing a problem that sounds almost impossible to solve.
Legion AVS needed secure wifi for 200 executives on raw agricultural land outside of San Reque, on the Costa del Sol in Spain.
Two red industrial generators positioned outside a white event tent, with cable runs laid across the ground between them.
The Challenge
The location itself lended to infrastructure challenges - no power, no internet, no existing services to build on. The main session sat inside a massive tent on a hilltop, with picturesque views of Gibraltar, while a second breakout session lived in a hotel five minutes away down the hill. We needed to ensure that 200 executives had secure connectivity and the ability to move in and out of Teams and Zoom calls without a single dropped word. All while in the middle of nowhere, with zero pre-existing infrastructure.
These are the problems Talon was built to solve.
So the answer was easy. Yes, of course we can do that.
A few pelican cases and an international flight later, the Talon team landed in Spain to build a network from nothing. Backstage, the production team needed bandwidth solid enough to trust with slides, files, and show control. And it all had to run lean, with our technical team keeping watch remotely while we managed other sessions in the hotel ballroom.

How We Solved It
There was no network to build on, so Talon started from the ground up. The team designed a redundant system that could survive a dropped connection without anyone in the room noticing, with the reach to cover three separate spaces and the remote oversight to run it all with a skeleton crew.
Two Starlink satellite dishes provided primary bandwidth, with user traffic load-balanced across the two satellite uplinks.
A backup 5G cellular connection kicked in automatically if satellite service dipped, so attendees never felt the switch, and gave us remote access to manage the system remotely.
Eight access points, flown from lighting trusses and placed strategically outside, covered the main tent, the outdoor patio, and the meal tent.
Dedicated hardwired connections at front of house and backstage gave the production team dependable bandwidth for slides, file transfers, and show control.
Remote monitoring let one engineer manage the tent's entire network from a laptop while calling the show from the hotel ballroom.
Talon partnered with a local Spanish crew to source cabling on the ground, cutting freight costs and simplifying customs.
Our global network of technical experts monitored the system remotely, allowing us to travel with a limited crew, but maintain access to round the clock engineering support.

The Outcome
The network maintained great performance for the full week. Executives moved between video calls without a stutter, the production team never lost a file transfer or a cue, and the whole system ran with a lean team and global partnerships. Talon delivered dependable connectivity in a place that had none to start with, and did it in a way that saved Legion AVS money without asking them to compromise on performance.
